Cottage Bathroom 2008 - Venetian Plaster

Venetian Plaster

Venetian plaster is also known as stucco lustro, lucidato, stucco veneziano, Grasello and Spatulata. We import the finest Venetian plaster from Italy.

Venetian plaster is a pre-tinted paste of lime putty and approximately 45% fine marble flour that dries to a glass like smoothness with incredible depth thus beautifully replicating marble.

Venetian plaster can be directly applied to primed, conventionally plastered walls or ceilings. Up to four thin layers are applied. As each tissue thin coat builds, translucency and depth of colour increase. The final coat is heavily burnished with the trowel resulting in a smooth, highly polished marble-like lustre. The finished surface has a build of less than 1mm. It is then protected with a thin layer of wax to repel stains and water and to enhance shine.

Darker Venetian plasters have a tendency to more pronounced veining and direction, and have greater reflective qualities.
